We are heading to the hotel Thursday evening to unload all of the boxes and bags for the first-ever Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival. We have many lovely displays for the event, and set-up for the vendors begins Friday morning. Because we’re in an air-conditioned hotel and ballroom at the Four Points Sheraton Pittsburgh North, you can enjoy the event rain or shine, hail, heat or high winds!
We will see you Friday evening for wine, beer, or a cocktail and hors d’ oeuvres and a Market Sneak Preview. Doors open for registration at 4:30 p.m., and the Festival takes place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
On Saturday, the doors open for registration at 8:30 a.m. The Festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Classes begin at 9 a.m.
Special pricing: Seniors (over 65) and Students: $12 at the door. Children under 12: $10 at the door. We are also honoring any $3 off coupons for admission both days.
While at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo this past weekend, we were given two boxes of additional magazines for giveaway from F+W Media, Inc. They produce 10 magazines in knitting, crochet, quilting, jewelry, embroidery and more. Given that all of our sponsors were so generous with their support of this show, we will have a gift for everyone, even after the “Creative Goody Bags” run out.
Be sure to wear something fun to the Festival: colorful, funky, handmade; an accessory, an outfit, bright shoes, handbag, jewelry or scarf. Don’t forget to say “I Love Yarn” if you are a loyal Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival attendee for a gift from Coats.
JUST ADDED: Make-It/Take-It with TechShop Pittsburgh
Lasers are one of the most versatile pieces of equipment at TechShop, used for prototyping, artwork, home improvement and design. Participants in this free activity, available both Friday and Saturday, can use some of TechShop Pittsburgh’s laser-cut materials to create their own smartphone pouch. Using laser-cut felt and buttons, you can sew your own pouch and accessorize it! Plus, use the Shop’s laser-cut blocks to try your hand at printmaking! TechShop Pittsburgh will have samples of other items created on lasers, and instructions for suggested use.
